The inspiration for this workshop – and what keeps me coming back to yoga – is that through practice I can begin to deal with the real pain and suffering in my life through the body. As we enter into the temple of the body, we begin to work through those places where we habitually hold onto negative emotions, not only untying physical knots but also deep emotional and psychological blocks.
Liza Toft will be leading you through a gentle series of yoga poses through which you will be able to observe the areas of your body that you habitually hold and contract. Sarah Zanchester will be leading you through a meditation and poetry exercise as a way to begin “seeing” what is underneath these deep patterns of holding. Rather than cling to a habit of “pushing” through, numbing out or resisting these emotions, you will be guided through a process that will help you understand something about yourself and what purpose your defenses are serving in a very deep and meaningful way.
